Executive Orders and Proclamations

Use the California State Library’s interactive tool to search for executive orders and proclamations from every governor since California became a state in 1850 through the present. Please note that there may be a delay of several weeks in adding new executive orders and proclamations, and that we are still working on adding proclamations issued between 1991 and November 2003 to the database. If you can’t find what you are looking for, please Ask a Librarian for assistance.

The signed originals of all executive orders and proclamations are housed at the California State Archives, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State. The California State Archives are located at 1020 O Street in Sacramento.
