Studies in the News (SITN) is a current compilation of policy-related items significant to the Legislature and Governor's Office. It is created weekly by the State Library's Research Bureau and State Information & Reference Center to supplement the public policy debate in California's Capitol. To help share the latest information with state employees and other interested individuals, these reading lists are now being made accessible through the State Library's website.
Studies In The News for First 5 California
The First 5 California Children and Families Commission was created to help provide the best possible start in life for California’s youngest children. As part of an interagency contract between First 5 California and the California State Library, the State Library is actively supporting the information needs of the First 5 California Children and Families Commission in its efforts to provide a comprehensive, integrated system of early childhood development services to all children in California from prenatal to age 5. Studies in the News for First 5 California Children and Families Commission is a bimonthly bibliography created by State Information and Reference Center staff to highlight current publications on issues related to children aged 0 to 5. Common topics included in this publication are school readiness, early childhood learning and development, health and family issues, and improved systems of care for young children.
Studies In The News for California Department of Mental Health
As part of an interagency contact between the Department of Mental Health (DMH) and the California State Library, the State Library is actively supporting the information needs of DMH in its efforts to redirecting California's mental health system toward a transformation, including adopting programs that stress prevention, early intervention, wellness, and recovery. Studies in the News for the Department of Mental Health is a bimonthly bibliography created by the State Information and Reference Center staff to highlight resources related to the mental health community. Common topics included in this publication are children and adolescent mental health needs, disparities and cultural competency in mental health services, mental health policies, stigma regarding mental health issues, and trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder and its relation to mental illness. Each issue features an index of topics for the readers' convenience.
