The California State Library is accepting applications from public libraries statewide to partner with the Aspen Institute to hold a regional dialogue on public libraries within their jurisdictions, sometime between June and September 2018, similar to that held by the Sutter County Library in Fall 2016.

These dialogues will be multi-stakeholder convenings on public libraries designed to address the strategic opportunities presented by the changing role of public libraries, and to showcase models through which civic, government, business, education, and other community leaders working together can leverage libraries as platforms for building more knowledgeable, healthy and sustainable communities.

Three dialogues will be held across the state; one or more dialogues may include several jurisdictions. So that a diversity of California public libraries will be represented, selection criteria will include geography, community size and demographics, public library type (county, city, special district, joint powers of authority), and service area population, among other factors.

For this process, libraries must apply by jurisdiction, and the application must be completed by the library director or designee. A PDF copy is available for reference; as the application must be completed in one session, we recommend that you use the PDF copy to develop your answers to the questions before going online to complete your application.

Applications are due by Monday, April 16, 2018.
