Easy Voter Guides offered in five languages for February 5, 2008 election

SACRAMENTO - The nonpartisan Easy Voter Guide, a publication of the Easy Voter Project managed in part by the California State Library, provides clear descriptions of each state proposition in plain language, short statements from the candidates and helpful information for new and busy voters. Place FREE online orders for the Easy Voter Guide booklet by November 26, 2007 at www.easyvoter.org.
Highlights of the Easy Voter Guide Project include:
- Candidates for President section that explains the duties of each elected office and provides personal statements and photos from each candidate
- Proposition section that helps voters understand the issues and what a yes or no vote means
- Easy Voter Guide companion Web site www.easyvoter.org which provides additional resources for voters along with a polling place look-up feature from www.smartvoter.org
- FREE Easy Voter Guide printable PDF download available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean this December.
The Easy Voter Guide Project is partnering with public libraries, newspapers, county elections offices, high schools, community colleges, adult schools and churches to distribute over 1 million Easy Voter Guide booklets in five languages. Easy Voter Guide distributors include the Asian Pacific American Legal Center, the National Organization of Latino Elected Officials and the PICO California North Valley Sponsoring Committee.
The Easy Voter Guide Project is managed by the League of Women Voters of California Education Fund in partnership with the California State Library and the California Secretary of State’s Office with funding from The James Irvine Foundation.
