New publication from California State Library describes public library organization in California
SACRAMENTO - A new publication from the California State Library, California Public Library Organization, will now show policymakers and the people of California how the state's local libraries are organized, how they operate, and how they provide library services to California's communities. California Public Library Organization is available now on the California State Library website at http://www.library.ca.gov/lds/docs/CAPubLibOrgRpt.pdf.
California Public Library Organization will give residents and policymakers a clear and factual look at the essential legal authority, formation, governing structures, local financing, and service areas of libraries throughout the state. In addition, the report will be helpful to library boards, friends of the library groups, and library foundations.
State Librarian Susan Hildreth says, "This report will not only show stakeholders the inner-workings of California's libraries, it will very likely help educate state and local elected officials in the inner workings of their local public libraries.
This report was prepared in partnership with the Sacramento Public Library under the guidance of Library Director Anne Marie Gold.
