The State Library annually publishes California Library Statistics, a compilation of statistical data from public, academic, special, and county law libraries throughout the state.

In addition, library staff, local government officials, state officials, and members of the general public can obtain selected data on California public libraries:

  • Specialized statistical reports comparing any of the 150+ statistical data elements collected by the State Library for any combination of libraries or branches.
  • Machine-readable files of all statistical data collected are available in a variety of formats.
