Designing Programs for Results

Learn how to design library programs that are more impactful!

Sponsored by the California State Library, “Designing Programs for Results” is a two-day in-depth training session intended for California public library staff which teaches participants how to: 1) identify and document community needs and aspirations; 2) specify realistic, meaningful and achievable changes to address these needs; 3) identify methods that are most likely to bring about the desired changes and develop programs to implement those methods; 4) design doable, informative evaluation approaches; and 5) develop realistic budgets to support program and evaluation activities. The intent is for participants to learn how to develop impactful projects for Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) and other grant funding.

Designing Programs for Results will be designed and delivered by the Grantsmanship Center, which offers some of the best training in the country. Three sessions will be offered around the state over the next few months: August 15-16, 2018, at the Santa Clara County Library District headquarters in Campbell, CA; September 5-6, 2018, at the Grantsmanship Center headquarters in Los Angeles; and September 26-27, 2018, at the Woodland Public Library in Woodland, CA.

The Craftmanship Center. Get funding. Create change.

Registration will be on a first-come, first-serve basis and limited to 25 people per session. Registrants must be currently working for a California public library. Depending on response, we may opt to limit the number of participants from a given library jurisdiction to allow for broader participation.

Participants may be reimbursed for up to $100 each to defray the costs of transportation and lodging, if needed. Breakfast and lunch will be provided both days. Instructions on claiming reimbursements will be distributed to each session’s participants once registration for that session closes.

Register for the first session today! Registration for later sessions will open in early August.
